Register NOW for the Reveille Call 2015 and begin a new Veterans Day tradition with family and friends on Sunday, November 8, at Reveille Peak Ranch 105 CR 114, Burnet, Texas. The event was created in an effort to “serve those who serve”; a place where organizers call attention to Veterans Day, Remembrance Day and Armistice Day by rallying around our military and law enforcement families who have served in the past, are currently serving and will be serving.
The events for this memorial occasion begin with a formal ceremony at 11:11 am. Following at 11:45 pm, two events will take place:
- The 11 Mile March- Register a team or individually by participating in all or part of an 11-mile march. Those who register a non-profit team can raise funds for a cause and keep their fundraising dollars.
- Tradition Games where teams are comprised of 10 members, half of which are civilian and half active duty or veteran military, law enforcement or first responders. These teams will compete in 10 events that include an obstacle course and 5k race.
You may be wondering if that’s a typo for the formal ceremony… but even that is symbolic!
In case you didn’t know, Armistice Day came about to commemorate the signing of a truce between the Allies and Germany in World War I. The truce was signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The following year, in 1919, the United States celebrated the first Armistice Day which was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 by President Eisenhower. According to History.com, there are approximately 23.2 million military veterans in the United States.
Go enjoy your November 8th Sunday and honor our military and first responders here in the beautiful Texas Hill country!
